How we compare AI tools

Every comparison on Digitals AI Marketplace is calculated from the data listed on each tool's page. There is no hidden editorial score and no paid placement in the result. Scoring version 3.

What is scored

Price: Lower is better. Score = (lowest + 10) / (price + 10) in USD per month, so a free tool and a $1 tool score close together while $1 and $500 score far apart.
Rating: A Bayesian average pulls ratings with few reviews toward the marketplace mean (prior weight 10), then is normalised to 0 to 1 as (rating - 1) / 4 before it is compared with the best rating.
Features: The number of listed features, compared with the tool that lists the most. Tools with no listed features are scored from their description at half confidence and flagged as inferred.
Reputation: A weighted blend of likes (3), reviews (5), installs (4) and favorites (2).
Free trial: Trial length in days, compared with the longest trial. A free plan counts as 365 days.

How the dimensions are weighted

Each dimension scores 0 to 1 against the best tool in the comparison. The overall score is the weighted average, shown out of 100. Presets only change the weights, never the scoring method.

Preset	Price	Rating	Features	Reputation	Free trial
Balanced	25%	25%	20%	15%	15%
Budget	45%	20%	10%	5%	20%
Feature-rich	10%	25%	45%	10%	10%
Most popular	10%	35%	10%	40%	5%

Missing and thin data

Every score carries a confidence from 0 to 1. Ratings reach full confidence at 20 reviews, so a 5.0 from one review counts for little.
A tool needs data for at least 50% of the preset's total weight to be ranked. Otherwise it is shown as “Not enough data” instead of being given a guessed score.
A dimension is only scored when at least 2 tools have data for it.
Scores within 2% of the best count as a tie. An overall lead of under 5 points is reported as a close call.
